Whisper Channels
The Whisper Channel feature lets GMs open a private, temporary voice channel with a single player directly inside Discord. Use it to pass secret information, deliver a private in-game moment, or have a quick sidebar without the rest of the party overhearing.
How it works
A GM runs the /whisper bot command and names the player they want to speak with. GameMinder creates a private voice channel that only the GM and that player can join. The channel is automatically deleted as soon as both participants leave, so there is nothing to clean up afterwards.
Key details
- Private by default: no other members can join or be invited into the channel
- Ephemeral: the channel is deleted automatically once everyone has left
- Discord only: whisper channels are a Discord voice feature and have no web app equivalent
