Session Surveys

Post-session surveys are automatically sent to every player after a GM ends a session. They give players a structured way to share feedback and give GMs a clear picture of how each session landed.

How it works

When a GM marks a session as complete, GameMinder creates a survey for each player who was in the session. Players receive a notification in the web app and, if the campaign is connected to Discord, a DM from the bot with a link to the survey. All survey responses are submitted through the web app at app.gameminder.io.

Players have a set window to respond: 48 hours by default, though GMs can configure this per campaign. If a player has not responded before the window closes, the bot sends them a reminder. After the window closes, the survey expires and can no longer be answered.

What players can do

  • Respond: answer the survey prompts and submit feedback
  • Decline: explicitly opt out of the survey for that session
  • Let it expire: if no action is taken before the expiry window closes, the survey expires automatically

Surveys are anonymous by default. After submitting, a player can choose to reveal their identity to the GM.

Pending surveys in the web app

Players view and respond to pending surveys from the GameMinder web app at app.gameminder.io. The dashboard shows all surveys waiting for a response across every campaign the player is a member of.

Survey prompts

Each campaign has its own set of custom prompts that players answer when they submit a survey. GMs can add, edit, and remove prompts from the campaign settings page in the web app. If no custom prompts have been set up, GameMinder can use a default set based on the Stars and Wishes feedback model; this can be toggled in campaign settings.

What GMs see

After players respond, GMs can read the survey responses from the campaign page in the web app. Responses are listed per player, per session. Surveys are anonymous unless a player has chosen to reveal themselves.

GMs can send private feedback on any response: type a message and click Send Feedback. The player receives the feedback immediately in their survey view.

Configuring surveys

GMs can adjust survey settings from the campaign settings page in the web app:

  • Expiry window: how many hours players have to respond (default: 48)
  • Custom prompts: add or remove the questions players are asked
  • Default prompts: enable or disable the built-in Stars and Wishes prompts as a fallback
